Decking and shed information

Pembrokeshire Council and Redford Caravan Park rules, on decking for new installations and extensions to existing decking, please find details below.

Items bridging the separation distance e.g., verandas and sheds.

One of the park licence conditions stipulate what is permitted between units and the full list should be referred when dealing with individual units and determining policies on the park. However, the following issues often cause the biggest problems:

You may only erect a fences, decking, shed, hut, structure, TV aerial or washing line and/or carry out any work to the area around your Caravan and/or connect any services or utilities to the Caravan with our prior written permission. We will only refuse our consent to such works if we think that we have a good reason to do so. If we refuse consent, we will tell you our reason(s).

    • All sheds must be non flammable and no larger than 6ft x4ft. You are responsible for keeping the area around the shed clean and tidy.
    • Porches may protrude 1m into the separation distance but they must be the open type.
    • Verandas are permitted, all new constructions must be constructed non flammable material, provided that there is a clear 3.5mm between them and are no wider than 6ft at any point, this includes steps.
    • A non-inflammable membrane with stones on top must be placed under all existing and new decking structures.
    • All decking must be kept in good, clean and tidy conditions.
    • We must give prior approval to all new structures, additions or alterations. We appreciate this issue of porches, sheds and verandas can be difficult as individuals may have spent time and money on the upgrade and may have obtained planning consent. However, licence conditions are overriding. Therefore, if an occupier has an illegal structure then it must be removed or replaced. Unfortunately, if you fail to remove the structure, within seven days, when asked to do so, we will remove the structure on your behalf; there will be a charge for this service.
    • New wooden verandas are not permitted.
